11th annual downtown closure in Ebensburg
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) – The 11th annual Downtown Shutdown returns Friday, July 29 – an event that kicks off the Ebensburg Homecoming weekend.
From 6 p.m. to midnight, some streets will be closed in Ebensburg to make way for a series of entertainment, including:
- 100 to 200 blocks from West High Street
- 100 block from East High Street
- 100 blocks from North and South Center Streets
This year’s entertainment will feature The Uptown Groupwhich will perform live under a red light at the intersection of Center and High Streets between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m., organizers say.
Downtown businesses will have sidewalk sales, outdoor games/activities, outdoor food/drinks and other special events from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Additionally, there will be Wolf’s Performing Arts Street Party for St. Jude’s.
The Downtown Shutdown event is free and open to the public. The organizers recommend bringing chairs, blankets, coolers, etc. to be installed in the street.
On Saturday, July 30, the Ebensburg Homecoming takes place. Since 1997, the community has come together to celebrate the summer months and to welcome former residents of Ebensburg home. It offers many different events. This year’s event will also mark a special anniversary – Ebensburg’s 225th anniversary. Ebensburg was founded in 1797.

Events you can expect on Saturday include community garage sales (Click here for a card), basket raffles, bake sales, indoor flea market, Homecoming 5K and 15K, kids’ fishing tournament, live music from Wanderlost, obstacle course and bouncy house , And much more.
