5 things to do in downtown Shreveport on June 4

Admire Texas Street as you stroll the Artwalk and later light up with the Texas Street Bridge at GloFest. Stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables on the first weekend of the always tasty Shreveport Farmers’ Market, earn points playing Pokemon, enjoy a hot Latin night, then cool off with the beautiful sounds of one of the country’s top organists at the Shreveport Summer Music Festival. 1. Downtown Shreveport Art Walk returns for its June stroll, this time down historic Texas Street. Catch the Fields exhibit at Minicine?, the Hoover Watercolor Society exhibit at the Bailey Gallery, and Caddo Magnet High student art at the Lofts at 624. Browse works by 26 artists, shop, eat, dance, sketch the city and learn a bit of downtown history! Your walk will end at RiverView Park and the inaugural GloFest, a night of music, light and color at the fabulous Bakowski Bridge of Lights! 2. The highly anticipated and always fresh Shreveport Farmers Market welcomes us back on Saturday, and we couldn’t be happier. Festival Plaza will be filled with locally grown fruits and vegetables, ready-to-eat items, botanicals, cheeses, organic produce, meats, gourmet donuts, freshly roasted coffee and much more! Enjoy music by Victoria Wells and a cooking demonstration by Pan Chef, Panderina Soumas. Come with US dollars, sturdy bags, walking shoes and a smile, and get ready to have a wonderful time. 3. Celebrate Pokemon Go National Day with Pokémon Geaux at the Sci-Port Discovery Center. There are points to be won in downtown Shreveport, as the competition begins! 4. The heating is switched on for Latin nights in the Lot. Join other dancers and those who are there to pick up some steps for an evening of great music and Latin dancing. The Shreveport Summer Music Festival moves through the hallowed halls of Holy Cross Episcopal Church on Sunday as Kermit Poling conducts acclaimed organist Ken Cowan through Frances Poulenc’s concerto.
