On July 29, 2022, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Santa Barbara Police Department Combined Communications Center received numerous 9-1-1 calls regarding a stabbing in the middle of the West 1st Block of Anapamu Street.

Multiple officers responded to the scene and located a single stabbed adult male near Anapamu Street and State Street. According to witness statements, it appears that some sort of altercation took place between the victim and the suspect(s) prior to the assault. The suspect(s) were last seen fleeing on foot towards Chapala Street before police arrived.

Community members assisted the victim until police and paramedics arrived on the scene. Once at the scene, officers applied a tourniquet to the victim to stop a bleeding appendix. The stabbing victim was taken to Cottage Hospital by paramedics for treatment and is believed to be in stable condition.

The suspect(s) are still pending and the police department is actively investigating this matter. Based on the initial investigation, this incident does not appear to be related to the previous shooting at Bohnett Park or the stabbings that occurred earlier in the week.

No other information is currently available.
