the City of Naperville is helping residents with spring cleaning by resuming its curbside bulk brush collection starting the week of May 9. Collections are divided into five different districts. Residents can find their specific collection periods accompanied by a brush collection interactive map on the city website. The city requires that the branches be between three and eight feet long and no more than six inches in diameter, and be neatly stacked on the boardwalk in front of the resident’s home, with the cut sides facing the street. They should not be tied or bundled, and any branches with thorns should be placed in a separate bouquet. Residents must take out the branches on Sunday before collection begins for their area, with collection taking place throughout the week.
This morning the Naperville Islamic Center celebrated the Eid-al-Fitr holiday with five separate prayer services. The biggest was at the Embassy Suites Naperville. Eid-al-Fitr marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, a period of fasting, prayer and charity. Eid-al-Fitr means “Feast of Breaking the Fast” and is usually celebrated with prayers, gifts, family visits and festive meals.
