Downtown Wichita Falls development looking for volunteers to clean up

It’s hard to believe because it looks like summer has just started, but the Hotter ‘N Hell Hundred is just around the corner.

The big ride itself takes place on Saturday August 27, but events will take place around the ride from Thursday August 25 to Sunday August 28. Get the full 2022 HHH event schedule here.

As someone who grew up in the area, but never attended Hotter ‘N Hell until I started working for the radio station in the late 2000s, I was rightfully shocked by the number of people who come to town just for the ride. Thousands of cyclists, their friends and family descend on Wichita Falls for one of the oldest and largest cycling events in the country.

And they will all be downtown.

So, that being said, Downtown Wichita Falls Development is looking for volunteers to help clean up there this Saturday morning (August 14). They will provide volunteers with trash bags and water to drink. The City of Wichita Falls will provide trash cans.

They ask you to bring any lawn tools you have and to wear closed shoes. Although gloves aren’t necessary, Downtown Development recommends wearing gloves because we’re talking about picking up trash and I know my germophobic self will have no part in picking up trash without gloves.

Everyone will meet at the Downtown Wichita Falls Development Office located at 709 Indiana at 8 a.m. Saturday and disperse from there.

No jokes here. Legit stuff that pisses me off about our city. Let me know what I missed or if you disagree.
