ORLANDO, Fla. — Police say a crash along Colonial Drive near downtown Orlando turned fatal Thursday morning.

At approximately 3:17 a.m., North Patrol officers responded to East Colonial Drive and Shine Avenue in reference to a single vehicle crash. East Colonial Drive is closed in both directions between Mills Avenue and Shine Avenue as officers work to clear the scene. pic.twitter.com/CPSaGrXH0b

Officers responded to the crash near Shine Avenue shortly after 3 a.m.
Police closed Colonial Drive in both directions between Mills Avenue and Shine Avenue while officers investigated the crash.

Officers said the crash involved a single vehicle.
One of the two people inside was rushed to Orlando Regional Medical Center but did not survive, police said.
OPD did not say whether the other occupant was injured.

As of 7:30 a.m., this section of Colonial Drive remained closed.
