Nonprofits Launch Live Music Festival Downtown | News, Sports, Jobs


Independence, Inc., a local nonprofit committed to breaking down barriers and making dreams come true, and the Minot Area Arts Council are kicking off the summer with The Sound of Independence live music festival Thursday at downtown Minot.

The 6-9pm event features a diverse lineup of established artists with and without disabilities with the goal of promoting disability inclusion and representation in music.

Festival-goers will have the opportunity to listen to several artists perform live on an outdoor stage. Performances will feature local musicians including Jennifer Weigel, Drew Hanson, Myles Barcomb, Joshua Herman, Melissa Spelchen and Rick Watson.

The event is free and is part of the Minot Area Council of the Arts Thursdays Downtown concert series. In addition to live music, there will be arts and crafts vendors, bouncy houses, food trucks, ax throwing and more.
