The 30th Annual Art Walk takes place throughout downtown Bowling Green on May 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a reception at the Wood County Public Library to follow from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. This free event invites everyone to view the work of local artists in their pop-up shops across various downtown merchants.
Downtown Bowling Green and the Bowling Green Arts Council have teamed up to host a fun day with lots of events. Many local artists will have their works displayed in the library to be judged by participants. From there, pick up a map showing where their works are on display at local merchants.
In addition to the art, there will also be a flamingo raffle at the library where the public can purchase tickets on the day of the event to vote for their favorite flamingo for the chance to bring one back to the home. These were all decorated by people from the community. The top three by popular vote will win Downtown Dollars.
The reception will be held at the library where light refreshments will be provided by Qdoba, Biggby Coffee and Kabob It. There will also be music from pianist Sandy Coursey. Here, Jury Winners, People’s Choice Winners, and Flamingo Raffle Winners will be announced.
Proceeds from this event benefit the Bowling Green Arts Council and the Downtown Bowling Green Flower Fund.
Crystalyn Hutchins is the juror. John and Alice Calderonello sponsor the first Flamingo Prize. Dick and Laurie Newlove sponsor the jury’s first place. The Downtown Bowling Green Foundation sponsors the Flamingo Second Prize, Jury Second Place Award, and People’s Choice Award. The Downtown Bowling Green Special Improvement District sponsors the Third Place Flamingo Award and the Third Place Jury Award. Jacqui Nathan, Robin Stanton Gerrow and Laurie Newlove helped with the planning.
